Instructions
1. Preheat
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the scalloped potatoes
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper; stir in cheese if using.
- Layer half the potatoes and onions in a greased baking dish.
