Ah, yes! The classic Doritos Taco Salad—a crunchy, cheesy, taco-flavored salad that’s a favorite for a quick weeknight meal or a party. I can give you a full homemade version that tastes just like the restaurant-style one.

Doritos Taco Salad Recipe

Ingredients (serves 4)

For the salad:

  • 1 bag (about 10–12 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos (or your favorite flavor)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce (iceberg or romaine)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced onion (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for spice)

For extra crunch (optional):

  • 1/4 cup crushed tortilla chips (in addition to Doritos)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Add taco seasoning according to the packet instructions (usually with a little water) and simmer until thickened.
  2. Prepare the salad base
    • Crush Doritos lightly (leave some chunks for crunch).
    • In a large bowl, layer the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives, and any other veggies you like.
  3. Assemble the salad
    • Sprinkle Doritos on top of the veggies.
    • Add the cooked taco-seasoned beef evenly over the Doritos.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  4. Add toppings
    • Drizzle with salsa and sour cream.
    • Add jalapeños or crushed extra chips if desired.
  5. Serve immediately
    • Serve right away to keep the Doritos crunchy.

Pro Tips

  • For a creamy dressing: Mix 1/2 cup sour cream with 2 tbsp salsa for a quick “taco dressing.”
  • Make it healthier: Use lean ground turkey or chicken, add extra veggies like corn and bell peppers.
  • Make it ahead: Keep Doritos separate until serving to prevent sogginess.

If you want, I can also give you a quick 5-minute “single-bowl” version where you just dump everything together and it still tastes amazing—perfect for one person or a lazy dinner.

Do you want me to do that version too?
