Posted on February 23, 2026 by Admin

Soft, buttery, and perfect for dipping — breadsticks are always a hit. 🥖✨ Here’s a classic homemade version that’s fluffy inside with a golden top.

Homemade Breadsticks

Makes 12 breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 2½–3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Activate the Yeast

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar.
  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2️⃣ Make the Dough

  • Stir in oil, salt, and 2½ cups flour.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic (add more flour if sticky).

3️⃣ First Rise

  • Place dough in a lightly greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise 45–60 minutes until doubled.

4️⃣ Shape

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  • Cut into 12 strips.
  • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5️⃣ Second Rise

  • Let rest 15–20 minutes.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.

7️⃣ Brush & Finish

  • Mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt.
  • Brush over hot breadsticks.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan and Italian seasoning if using.

🔥 Extra Tips

  • For softer breadsticks, brush with butter immediately after baking.
  • Want crispy edges? Bake 2–3 minutes longer.
  • Serve with marinara, Alfredo, or ranch for dipping.
