🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • Water and salt for boiling

Sauce

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Toppings

  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
  3. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the Meat Sauce

  1. In a large skillet or saucepan, brown ground beef with onion over medium heat.
  2. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  5. Simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3️⃣ Combine & Serve

  • Toss cooked spaghetti with sauce or serve sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Vegetable boost: Add diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini to the sauce.
  • Cheesy twist: Stir in mozzarella before serving or sprinkle on top.
  • Spicy version: Add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Quick version: Use pre-cooked ground beef or Italian sausage.
  • Make ahead: Sauce can be made a day ahead and reheated; flavors improve overnight.
