Here’s a classic Home Fries recipe — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect for breakfast or brunch.

🥔 Classic Home Fries

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled or scrubbed and diced into ½-inch cubes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 bell pepper, diced
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley

Instructions

1️⃣ Par-Cook the Potatoes

  • Place diced potatoes in a pot of salted water.
  • Bring to a boil and cook 5–7 minutes until just tender but not falling apart.
  • Drain and pat dry.

2️⃣ Sauté the Onions (and Peppers)

  • Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onions (and bell pepper if using) and sauté 3–4 minutes until softened.

3️⃣ Cook the Potatoes

  • Add par-cooked potatoes to the skillet.
  • Spread evenly and let cook 5–7 minutes without stirring too much so they get crispy.
  • Flip occasionally until golden brown on all sides.

4️⃣ Season & Serve

  • Sprinkle with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
  • Serve hot with eggs, bacon, or your favorite breakfast items.

💡 Tips

  • For extra crispiness, parboil potatoes, then dry thoroughly before frying.
  • Use a heavy skillet or cast iron for better browning.
  • Add garlic, smoked paprika, or herbs like thyme for more flavor.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated in a skillet or oven for breakfast meal prep.
