Baked potato

Posted on February 15, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Baked Potato recipe—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfect as a side or main with toppings:

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, or broccoli

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Scrub potatoes thoroughly and pat dry.
    • Prick each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape.
    • Rub each potato with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt.
  3. Bake:
    • Place potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
    • Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until the skin is crisp and a fork or knife slides easily into the center.
  4. Serve:
    • Cut a slit down the middle of each potato.
    • Fluff the inside with a fork and add desired toppings.

💡 Tips for Perfect Baked Potatoes:

  • For extra crispy skin, bake directly on the oven rack instead of a pan.
  • Large russet potatoes work best—they have a starchy, fluffy interior.
  • Microwave shortcut: 5–7 minutes per potato on high (then finish in oven for crispiness).
  • Wrap in foil if you prefer softer skin, but it will reduce crispiness.

If you want, I can also give you a loaded baked potato recipe with cheese, bacon, sour cream, and chives for a fully indulgent side or main dish.
