Tater tot casserole

Posted on February 14, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, cozy Tater Tot Casserole recipe that’s creamy, cheesy, and perfect for weeknights:

Classic Tater Tot Casserole (Serves 4–6)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken for variation)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: paprika for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the meat and veggies:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with diced onion and garlic.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Stir in frozen vegetables and cook 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Mix the creamy base:
    • In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup and milk.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
    • Pour over the beef and veggie mixture, stirring to combine.
  4. Assemble the casserole:
    • Spread the beef mixture evenly in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
    • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar over the top.
    • Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
    • Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese on top in the last 5 minutes if you like extra melty cheese.
  6. Serve:
    • Let it cool 5 minutes before serving. Great with a simple salad or steamed veggies.

If you want, I can also give a shortcut “dump-and-bake” version that uses minimal prep and goes straight from fridge to oven. It’s a life-saver for busy nights.

Do you want me to give that version too?
