Here’s a crunchy, golden Crispy Fried Mushrooms recipe — perfect as a snack, appetizer, or game-day favorite 🍄✨

🍄 Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound whole button or cremini mushrooms
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Optional:

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne (for heat)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or panko (for extra crunch)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the mushrooms

  • Wipe mushrooms clean with a damp paper towel.
  • Trim stems if needed.
  • Make sure mushrooms are completely dry before coating.

2️⃣ Prepare coating stations

  • Bowl 1: Mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika (and cayenne if using).
  • Bowl 2: Whisk eggs and milk together.

3️⃣ Coat

  • Dredge mushrooms in flour mixture.
  • Dip into egg mixture.
  • Return to flour mixture for a second coat (this gives extra crispiness).
  • Optional: press into breadcrumbs for even more crunch.

4️⃣ Fry

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan.

5️⃣ Drain

  • Remove to a wire rack (best for crisp texture).
  • Lightly sprinkle with salt while hot.

🥣 Dipping Sauce Ideas

  • Ranch dressing
  • Garlic aioli
  • Spicy sriracha mayo
  • Marinara sauce

🔥 Extra Crispy Tips

  • Cornstarch is key for a lighter crunch.
  • Keep oil temperature steady to avoid soggy mushrooms.
  • For air fryer: spray coated mushrooms lightly with oil and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes.

If you’d like, I can also give you a beer-battered version that’s pub-style and extra crunchy 🍺🍄
