Salmon steak

Posted on February 14, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, flavorful way to cook a salmon steak—juicy inside with a beautiful sear outside 🐟🔥

🐟 Pan-Seared Salmon Steak

Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon steaks (about 6–8 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh parsley or dill (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the salmon

  • Pat salmon steaks dry with paper towels.
  • Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and paprika.

2️⃣ Heat the pan

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once hot, add salmon steaks.

3️⃣ Sear

  • Cook 4–5 minutes on the first side without moving it.
  • Flip carefully and cook another 3–4 minutes.

4️⃣ Add flavor

  • Reduce heat to medium.
  • Add butter and garlic to the pan.
  • Spoon melted garlic butter over the salmon for 1–2 minutes.

5️⃣ Check doneness

  • Salmon should flake easily with a fork.
  • Internal temperature: 125–130°F (52–54°C) for medium (it will rise slightly while resting).

6️⃣ Serve

  • Squeeze fresh lemon over the top.
  • Garnish with parsley or dill.

🔥 Alternative: Oven-Baked Salmon Steak

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Season and place on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake 12–15 minutes depending on thickness.

💡 Tips

  • Don’t overcook—salmon dries out quickly.
  • For crispy edges, press gently with a spatula during the first minute of searing.
  • Pairs perfectly with roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.

If you’d like, I can also give you a honey garlic glazed salmon steak or a blackened Cajun-style version.
