Here’s a simple, flexible recipe for fruit compote (peeled fruit chunks simmered in liquid):

🍑 Basic Fruit Compote

Ingredients

  • 3–4 cups peeled, chopped fruit
(apples, pears, peaches, plums, berries, or a mix)
  • 2–4 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup water, fruit juice, or wine
  • 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • Optional flavorings:
    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Orange zest
    • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit
Peel (if needed) and cut into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Combine
Add fruit, sugar, liquid, and lemon juice to a saucepan.
  3. Simmer
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low.
Cook 10–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fruit is soft but still holds shape.
  4. Flavor & adjust
Stir in vanilla or spices. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Cool
Serve warm or let cool. It thickens slightly as it cools.

🍎 Apple-Cinnamon Version

  • 4 apples (peeled & chopped)
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Simmer about 15 minutes.

Serving Ideas

  • Over yogurt or oatmeal
  • On pancakes or waffles
  • Spoon over vanilla ice cream
  • As a filling for crepes or cake

If you’d like, tell me what fruit you have and I can tailor the recipe exactly to that.
