Here’s a clean, baked sweet & sour chicken using chicken breast only.
Baked Sweet & Sour Chicken (Chicken Breast)
Ingredients
- 1½ lb chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
- Salt & pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ cup flour
Sauce
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Season chicken breast with salt & pepper.
- Coat pieces in cornstarch → egg → flour.
- Arrange in dish, spray lightly with oil.
- Bake 20 minutes, flip chicken, bake 20 more minutes.
- Whisk sauce ingredients. Pour over chicken.
- Bake 10 minutes, flip, bake 10 more minutes until sticky.
Tips for Juicy Chicken Breast
- Cut evenly so it cooks at the same rate.
- Don’t overbake before adding sauce — that’s how it stays tender.
- Rest 5 minutes before serving.
