🍗 Chicken and Dumplings
Ingredients
For the chicken
- 1 lb chicken (thighs or breasts)
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt & black pepper
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning or thyme
For the dumplings
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
How to Make
- Cook the chicken
In a large pot, add chicken, broth, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, and seasonings.
Simmer 20–25 minutes until chicken is tender. - Shred the chicken
Remove chicken, shred it, and return it to the pot. - Make dumpling dough
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk and melted butter—don’t overmix. - Drop the dumplings
Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering soup. - Cook dumplings
Cover and simmer 15 minutes (no peeking!).
Dumplings should be fluffy and cooked through. - Finish & serve
