Cheesy chicken fritters

Posted on February 5, 2026 by Admin

Oh yes 😏—cheesy chicken fritters are crispy, golden bites loaded with tender chicken and melty cheese. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or even a main with a salad. Here’s a foolproof recipe:

Cheesy Chicken Fritters

Ingredients (makes ~12 fritters)

  • 1 lb (450g) cooked chicken, shredded or finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating if desired)
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or coriander
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp oil for frying (or cooking spray for baking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture
  • In a bowl, combine chicken, cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well until the mixture holds together.
  1. Form fritters
  • Scoop 2–3 tbsp of the mixture and shape into small patties or balls.
  • Optional: roll in extra breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  1. Cook the fritters

Pan-Fry (crispy)

  • Heat 2–3 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook fritters 3–4 min per side until golden brown and heated through.

Oven-Bake (lighter)

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place fritters on a parchment-lined baking tray and lightly spray with oil.
  • Bake 15–20 min, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
  1. Serve
  • With dipping sauces: ranch, garlic mayo, sweet chili, or tomato ketchup.
  • Perfect as a snack, party appetizer, or alongside a salad for a meal.

💡 Tips for Success

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of paprika, cayenne, or chili flakes.
  • Shredded chicken from a rotisserie works perfectly and saves time.
  • Make ahead: refrigerate uncooked fritters for up to 24 hours or freeze for later.

If you want, I can give a super creamy, cheesy version where the cheese melts into little gooey pockets inside the fritters — basically a “cheese pull” version 😏.

Do you want me to do that?
