Here’s a classic Apple Pie recipe—flaky crust, tender cinnamon-spiced apples, and pure comfort 🥧🍏

Classic Apple Pie

Serves: 8 | Prep: 30 min | Bake: 50–60 min

Ingredients

For the crust (2 crusts):

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

For the filling:

  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1–2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces

Optional:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust:
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
    • Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Add ice water 1 tbsp at a time until dough comes together.
    • Divide in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling:
    • In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon juice.
  3. Assemble the pie:
    • Roll out one dough disk and line a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Fill with apple mixture, dot with butter.
    • Roll out second dough disk and place on top. Trim edges, crimp to seal.
    • Cut slits in the top crust to vent steam.
    • Optional: Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar.
  4. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Bake 20 min at 425°F, then reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake 30–40 min more until crust is golden and filling bubbly.
  5. Cool & serve:
    • Let pie cool at least 2 hours before slicing to set the filling.
    • Serve plain or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips

  • Flaky crust: Keep butter and water cold; handle dough minimally.
  • Juicy filling: Use a mix of tart and sweet apples.
  • Extra flavor: Add ½ tsp ground ginger or a splash of bourbon.

I can also give you a quick “rustic apple galette” version that takes 20 minutes prep and still tastes amazing if you want a faster option. Do you want me to do that?
