Classic homemade garlic bread requires just a few pantry staples and comes together in under 25 minutes.

  • The Ingredients
    • 1 loaf of French baguette or Italian bread
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
    • 3 to 4 fresh garlic cloves, finely minced or grated
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
    • Optional: A pinch of red pepper flakes or grated mozzarella/Pecorino Romano cheese
  • Instructions
    1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Slice your loaf of bread in half lengthwise (or cut it into individual slices, leaving them connected at the base like an accordion).
    2. Mix the Butter: In a small bowl, thoroughly combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt until smooth.
    3. Assemble: Generously spread the garlic butter evenly across the cut sides of the bread.
    4. Bake: Wrap the loaf loosely in aluminum foil to keep the inside soft while it toasts. Bake on the middle rack for 12 to 15 minutes.
    5. Crisp It Up: Open or remove the foil for the last 2 to 3 minutes, and switch the oven to broil if you prefer an extra-crispy, golden-brown top. Watch it closely so it doesn’t burn!
What style of garlic bread are you in the mood for—cheesy, baked, or a quick skillet version?
