Potato balls

Posted on April 18, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tasty and easy recipe for crispy potato balls—soft and creamy inside, crunchy outside.

🥔 Crispy Potato Balls

🧂 Ingredients

Potato filling:

  • 3–4 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes or chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or coriander
  • 1–2 tbsp cheese (optional, makes it creamy)

Coating:

  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

For frying:

  • Oil for deep frying

🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare filling

  • Boil potatoes until soft, peel, and mash well.
  • Mix in salt, spices, herbs, and cheese (if using).
  • Let mixture cool completely (important for shaping).

2. Shape balls

  • Take small portions and roll into smooth balls.
  • Keep size bite-sized for even frying.

3. Coat

  • Roll each ball in flour → dip in egg → coat with breadcrumbs.
  • For extra crunch, repeat egg + breadcrumb coating.

4. Fry

  • Heat oil on medium flame (not too hot).
  • Fry balls until golden brown and crispy (3–5 minutes).
  • Turn gently for even color.

5. Drain & serve

  • Place on paper towel to remove extra oil.
  • Serve hot and crispy.

🔥 Tips for best potato balls

  • Chill mashed potato mix before shaping (easier rolling)
  • Don’t fry on high heat or they’ll burst
  • Add cheese inside for a “melty center” surprise
  • Use fine breadcrumbs for smoother coating or coarse for extra crunch
