Southern Caramel Cake

🍰🍯 Southern Caramel Cake (classic rich dessert)

A traditional Southern-style cake with soft buttery layers and a deep, homemade caramel frosting.


🥣 Ingredients:

🍰 Cake:

  • 🌾 Flour (2½ cups)
  • 🧈 Butter (1 cup, softened)
  • 🍬 Sugar (2 cups)
  • 🥚 Eggs (4)
  • 🥛 Milk (1 cup)
  • 🌿 Vanilla extract (1 tsp)
  • 🥄 Baking powder (2 tsp)
  • 🧂 Pinch of salt

🍯 Caramel Frosting:

  • 🍬 Sugar (1½ cups)
  • 🧈 Butter (½ cup)
  • 🥛 Milk or cream (1 cup)
  • 🌿 Vanilla extract (1 tsp)

👩‍🍳 How to make:

1. Bake the cake

  1. Cream butter + sugar until fluffy
  2. Add eggs one at a time
  3. Mix dry ingredients separately
  4. Add dry mix + milk gradually
  5. Pour into greased pans
  6. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes
  7. Let layers cool completely

2. Make caramel frosting

  1. Melt sugar in a pan over medium heat until golden brown
  2. Add butter carefully (it will bubble)
  3. Slowly add milk/cream and stir
  4. Cook until thick and smooth
  5. Add vanilla and let it cool slightly

3. Assemble

  • Spread warm caramel frosting between layers and over the cake
  • Work quickly—it thickens as it cools

Soft, buttery cake with a deep, rich caramel flavor and slightly fudgy frosting.
