Beer bread

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Beer Bread—perfectly crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and no yeast required!

Easy Beer Bread (Makes 1 loaf)

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 12 oz (355 ml) beer (lager or ale works well, room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add beer: Pour beer into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter will be thick and sticky—don’t overmix!
  4. Pour into pan: Spread batter evenly in the prepared loaf pan.
  5. Add butter: Brush melted butter over the top for a golden crust.
  6. Bake: 45–50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Let bread cool in the pan for 5–10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.

Optional Add-Ins & Variations:

  • Cheese & herbs: Stir in 1 cup shredded cheddar and 1–2 tsp chopped rosemary or thyme.
  • Sweet version: Add 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon for a dessert-style bread.
  • Garlic butter: Brush with garlic-infused butter before baking for savory garlic beer bread.

If you want, I can also give a super-easy one-bowl skillet beer bread version that has a rustic crust and cooks in 30 minutes—great for last-minute baking.

Do you want me to share that skillet version?
