Chocolate cake

Here’s a rich, moist chocolate cake that’s simple and foolproof.


🍫 Classic Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

Dry

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water or hot coffee (makes it extra chocolatey)

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch pans or one 9×13 pan.
2️⃣ In a large bowl, whisk dry ingredients.
3️⃣ Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
4️⃣ Stir in hot water/coffee (batter will be thin—normal!).
5️⃣ Pour into pans and bake:

  • 30–35 min (round pans)
  • 35–40 min (9×13)
    6️⃣ Cool completely before frosting.

🍥 Easy Chocolate Frosting

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Beat until fluffy.


🔥 Tips

  • Add chocolate chips for extra richness
  • Use buttermilk instead of milk for a softer crumb
  • This cake freezes beautifully
  • Works great as cupcakes too (18–22 min)
