Baked potato

Posted on April 6, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a straightforward method for a classic baked potato:

Ingredients

  • 1 large russet potato
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prep the potato: Scrub it clean and pat dry.
  3. Pierce & season: Prick the potato with a fork several times. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Bake: Place directly on the oven rack (or on a baking sheet) for 45–60 minutes, until the skin is crispy and the inside is soft. Test with a fork.
  5. Serve: Slice open, fluff the inside, and add your favorite toppings.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra crispy skin, skip foil and bake directly on the rack.
  • Microwave first for 5–6 minutes to reduce baking time, then finish in the oven for a crispy skin.
  • Russet potatoes are best—they get fluffy inside.

If you want, I can give a loaded baked potato recipe that turns it into a full meal. Do you want me to do that?
