Air fryer cheesy mashed potato puffs

Posted on April 5, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a crispy, cheesy, and super tasty recipe for Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Puffs 🥔🧀✨—perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish.

🥔 Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Puffs

Ingredients (makes 12–15 puffs)

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled, leftover works great)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2–3 tbsp chopped chives or spring onions (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Cooking spray or a little oil for brushing

Instructions

1. Prep the mixture

  • In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheese, flour, egg, garlic powder, chives, salt, and pepper
  • Mix until smooth and well combined

2. Shape the puffs

  • Take a small spoonful of mixture and roll into balls (about 1–2 inch diameter)
  • Flatten slightly if desired for faster cooking

3. Air fry

  • Preheat air fryer to 180°C (360°F)
  • Lightly spray basket with cooking spray
  • Place puffs in a single layer (don’t overcrowd)
  • Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy

4. Serve

  • Serve hot with ketchup, sour cream, or your favorite dipping sauce

🔥 Tips

  • For extra crunch, coat puffs lightly with breadcrumbs before air frying
  • Make sure mashed potatoes are well-cooled; warm potatoes can make puffs sticky
  • Use a mix of cheeses for richer flavor
  • These can be frozen uncooked and air fried straight from the freezer—add 2–3 minutes to cooking time

If you want, I can give you a super cheesy, twice-baked version that’s ultra gooey inside and perfectly crispy outside, just like a restaurant snack 🧀✨

Do you want me to do that?
