🥩 Slow Cooker Cube Steak

🔹 Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 4 cube steaks (round steak, tenderized)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 2 tbsp oil (for searing)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 1 tsp paprika or Italian seasoning
  • Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms

🔹 Instructions

1. Prepare the steaks

  • Season cube steaks with salt and pepper
  • Dredge lightly in flour

2. Sear (optional but adds flavor)

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
  • Sear steaks 1–2 minutes per side until browned
  • Transfer to slow cooker

3. Add aromatics

  • Add onions, garlic, and mushrooms (if using) on top of steaks

4. Add liquid & seasonings

  • Pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over everything
  • Sprinkle paprika or Italian seasoning if desired

5. Slow cook

  • Cook on Low for 6–8 hours or High for 3–4 hours
  • Steaks will become very tender, almost falling apart

6. Optional gravy

  • Remove steaks and thicken the sauce:
    • Mix 1–2 tbsp flour or cornstarch with cold water
    • Stir into slow cooker and cook 10–15 minutes until thickened

7. Serve

  • Serve cube steak with gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles

🔹 Tips

  • Browning steaks first adds flavor but isn’t necessary
  • For extra richness, add a splash of cream or butter to the gravy
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day
