Rice pudding

Posted on March 31, 2026 by Admin

A warm, creamy rice pudding is simple comfort food you can make with basic ingredients. Here’s a classic stovetop version:

Creamy Rice Pudding

Ingredients (serves 4–6):

  • 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for richness)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the rice:
    • In a pot, combine rice and water.
    • Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes until water is absorbed.
  2. Add milk and sugar:
    • Stir in milk, sugar, and salt.
    • Cook on low heat, stirring often, for 15–20 minutes until thick and creamy.
  3. Finish:
    • Stir in vanilla, cinnamon, butter, and raisins (if using).
    • Cook a few more minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve warm or chilled. Sprinkle extra cinnamon on top if you like.

💡 Tips:

  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking
  • Add more milk if it gets too thick
  • For extra richness, replace some milk with cream

If you want, I can give you a baked rice pudding or a South Asian kheer-style version with cardamom and nuts.
