Seven-layer salad

Posted on January 24, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh yes 😍 Seven-Layer Salad—classic, colorful, and perfect for potlucks or family dinners. Here’s the traditional version that’s creamy, crunchy, and visually stunning:

Seven-Layer Salad

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

Layers:

  1. 6 cups iceberg lettuce, chopped
  2. 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  3. 1 cup cucumber, diced
  4. 1 cup shredded carrots
  5. 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  6. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  7. 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped

Dressing:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing
    • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Layer the salad
    • In a clear 9×13 dish (or trifle bowl for showy layers), layer ingredients in this order for classic presentation:
      1. Lettuce
      2. Tomatoes
      3. Cucumbers
      4. Carrots
      5. Bacon
      6. Cheese
      7. Red onions
  3. Add dressing
    • Spread the mayonnaise mixture evenly over the top layer.
  4. Chill
    • Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving so flavors meld.
  5. Serve
    • Scoop and serve cold, making sure to get a little bit of each layer in every serving.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of mayo for a lighter dressing.
  • Add peas or bell peppers for extra color.
  • Top with extra bacon or chives just before serving for a nice crunch.
  • Perfect for potlucks because it looks amazing in a clear dish!

If you want, I can also give a low-carb or ranch-style version that tastes just as creamy but with fewer carbs.

Do you want me to make that version too?
