🍖 Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak (Classic & Easy)

🛒 Ingredients

Patties:

  • 500–700g ground beef (not too lean)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper

Gravy:

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (or flour) + 3 tbsp water (slurry)

1. Mix & shape

Combine all patty ingredients and form oval steaks (5–6 pieces).

2. Quick sear (optional but recommended)

Brown patties in a hot pan, ~2 minutes per side. This boosts flavor and helps them hold together.

3. Load the slow cooker

  • Bottom layer: sliced onions + mushrooms
  • Top: browned patties

4. Add gravy

Whisk broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Pour over everything.

5. Cook

  • LOW: 6–7 hours
  • HIGH: 3–4 hours

6. Thicken

Stir in the cornstarch slurry during the last 20–30 minutes until the gravy is glossy and thick.
