Chops and rice is a simple, hearty combo you’ll find in many cuisines—juicy meat chops served with flavorful rice. Here’s a solid, home-style version you can make easily:


🍖 Chops (Lamb or Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 4 lamb chops or chicken chops (leg/thigh pieces)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil

Method

  1. Marinate
    Mix all ingredients and coat the chops well. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes (longer = better flavor).
  2. Cook
    • Heat oil in a pan
    • Add chops and cook on medium heat
    • Cover and let them cook in their own juices (10–15 mins)
    • Uncover and fry until nicely browned and tender

👉 You can also grill or bake them if you prefer.


🍚 Simple Spiced Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2–3 cloves
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Wash and soak rice (15–20 minutes).
  2. Heat oil, fry onions until golden.
  3. Add whole spices, then water and salt.
  4. Add rice, cook until water is absorbed.
  5. Cover and steam (dum) on low heat for 5–10 minutes.

🍽️ Serving Idea

Serve hot chops over rice or side-by-side with:

  • Fresh salad (onion, cucumber, lemon)
  • Yogurt raita
  • Mint chutney

🔥 Tips

  • For extra flavor, cook rice in leftover juices from the chops.
  • Add green chilies for a spicy kick.
  • A squeeze of lemon over chops before serving really lifts the taste.
