Cabbage steaks

Posted on March 26, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious way to make cabbage steaks — crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of flavor:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: paprika, chili flakes, or Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the cabbage:
    • Remove outer leaves and cut the cabbage into ¾–1 inch thick slices (“steaks”). Keep the core intact so slices hold together.
  3. Season:
    • Brush both sides with olive oil or butter.
    • Sprinkle with garlic, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.
  4. Bake:
    • Place on the tray in a single layer.
    • Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until edges are golden and slightly crispy.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve hot as a side or light main dish.

Tips:

  • Add grated cheese in the last 5 minutes for a crispy, cheesy top.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle with lemon juice or a simple yogurt sauce before serving.
  • You can also cook them in a pan for a more caramelized crust.

If you want, I can give a spicy version, a garlic butter upgrade, or even an air fryer method for cabbage steaks.
