Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread

Posted on January 24, 2026 by Admin

Oh yes 😏—Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread takes the classic messy sandwich and turns it into a cheesy, garlicky, open-faced dream. Here’s a simple, crowd-pleasing recipe:

🥖 Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread

Servings: 4–6
Time: ~20–25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (for garlic butter)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: sliced pickles or jalapeños for topping

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Sloppy Joe mixture

  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic until softened.
  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, drain excess fat.
  • Stir in sloppy joe sauce, simmer 5 minutes until thickened.

2️⃣ Prepare garlic bread

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread over cut sides of bread.

3️⃣ Assemble

  • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over garlic-buttered bread.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Place on a baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Slice and enjoy hot. Optional toppings: pickles, jalapeños, or extra shredded cheese.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Cheesy pull-apart: Use a pull-apart bread loaf and stuff sloppy joe mixture between slices.
  • Spicy: Add ½ tsp chili powder or hot sauce to sloppy joe mix.
  • Make ahead: Assemble and refrigerate, bake before serving.
  • Extra crispy: Broil 1–2 minutes at the end for a golden top.

If you want, I can also give you a one-pan sheet-pan version, a mini garlic bread sliders version, or a slow-cooker sloppy joe twist.

Do you want me to do one of those?
