Posted on March 23, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a rich, hearty Chili Con Carne recipe—packed with bold flavors and perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients (Serves 6)

  • 1 lb (≈450 g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped onions, cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Sauté Aromatics:
Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Build the Flavor:
Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, and cayenne. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
  4. Add Liquids and Beans:
Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
  5. Simmer:
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  6. Season and Serve:
Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

💡 Tips:

  • For deeper flavor, let it simmer longer—up to 1 hour.
  • Add a small piece of dark chocolate or a splash of coffee for a richer taste.
  • This chili freezes very well—great for meal prep.

If you want, I can also give a slow cooker chili con carne version that cooks all day and develops even deeper flavor.
