Cabbage soup

Cabbage soup is a light, healthy, and comforting soup made with cabbage, vegetables, and sometimes meat or beans. It’s filling, easy to make, and perfect for detox meals or a cozy dinner.


🥣 Classic Cabbage Soup Recipe

Ingredients (4–6 servings):

  • 1 small cabbage (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 6 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: cooked beans, shredded chicken, or sausage slices

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Sauté aromatics:
    In a large pot, heat olive oil. Sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery for 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add cabbage & broth:
    Stir in chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, and broth. Bring to a boil.
  3. Simmer:
    Reduce heat and simmer 20–25 minutes until cabbage is tender.
  4. Season & serve:
    Add salt, pepper, and paprika. Optional: add beans or cooked meat for extra protein. Serve hot.

  • For a thicker soup, mash some cabbage or carrots slightly before serving.
  • Add herbs like thyme, parsley, or dill for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day as flavors meld.
