Salmon patties

Posted on January 24, 2026 by Admin

Salmon patties—classic, cozy, and secretly elite comfort food. 🐟💛 Here’s a simple, crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside recipe, plus a couple easy upgrades.

🐟 Classic Salmon Patties

Serves: 4 (8 patties)
Time: ~25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 (14.75 oz) cans salmon, drained
(remove skin/bones if you want, but they’re edible)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers (Ritz = 🔥)
  • ¼ cup onion, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tbsp Dijon or yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Old Bay (or paprika + garlic powder)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix
In a bowl, flake salmon and mix with egg, breadcrumbs, onion, mayo, mustard, seasoning, salt & pepper.
  2. Form patties
Shape into patties about ½–¾ inch thick.
(If mixture is loose, chill 10 min or add a little more crumbs.)
  3. Cook
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry patties 3–4 min per side until golden and crispy.
  4. Serve
Drain briefly on paper towels and serve hot.

🥄 Easy Sauce (Highly Recommended)

  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped dill or parsley
  • 1 tsp Dijon
    Mix and drizzle. Trust me.

✨ Variations

  • Southern-style: Use crushed saltines + a splash of hot sauce
  • Fresh salmon: Chop raw salmon, pan-fry same way
  • Air fryer: 375°F for 8–10 min, flip halfway
  • Spicy: Add cayenne or chopped jalapeños

🥗 What to Serve With

  • Coleslaw or simple salad
  • Mac & cheese
  • Roasted potatoes
  • On a bun like a salmon burger 👀

If you want, I can give you a no-breadcrumb (keto) version, a fresh salmon upgrade, or a grandma-style old-school recipe.
