Here’s a simple and flavorful Slow Cooker Pork Shoulder recipe — tender, juicy, and perfect for shredding into sandwiches, tacos, or served with sides 🍖⏱️.

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

  • 2–3 kg pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp apple cider vinegar for extra tang

Instructions

1. Prep the pork

  • Pat the pork shoulder dry and rub with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

2. Layer in the slow cooker

  • Place sliced onions and garlic at the bottom.
  • Put the pork shoulder on top.
  • Pour in broth and optional apple cider vinegar or barbecue sauce.

3. Cook

  • Cover and cook:
    • Low: 8–10 hours
    • High: 4–6 hours
  • Pork should be tender enough to shred easily with two forks.

4. Optional finishing

  • Remove pork and shred with forks.
  • Mix with the cooking juices for extra flavor.
  • Optional: broil shredded pork for 5–10 minutes with extra barbecue sauce for a caramelized finish.

5. Serve

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, tacos, sandwiches, or roasted vegetables.

💡 Tips

  • Pork shoulder is ideal for slow cooking because it becomes tender and flavorful.
  • You can freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
  • Add root vegetables like carrots and potatoes to cook alongside the pork for a full meal.

I can also give you a honey garlic slow cooker pork shoulder version that’s sticky, sweet, and savory — perfect for a family dinner.

Do you want me to share that honey garlic version?
